LOCKSTOCK
Wirksworth is a town literally humming with music. From regular informal sessions in the local pubs to more organised gigs in the Town Hall all genres are represented and venues indoor and out can attract top quality performers.
Lockstock
Each September Wirksworth hosts a vibrant and highly respected arts festival and interwoven with the physical exhibits is a program of music providing visitors with a soundtrack to their time here.
Back in 2012, my first year in charge, The Old Lockup provided some outdoor space for musicians to perform as part of the festival. We ran a bar, got a few hay bales for folk to sit on and called it Lockstock.
Over the years since, Lockstock has grown into one of the most popular events of the festival's Art & Architecture Trail Weekend with 2 days of free live music from local performers and a ticketed event on the Saturday evening. We have worked with Fleet Arts to provide a platform for some of the best young talent in Derbyshire and have set up a community enterprise MusicWirks to provide support and opportunities for local youngsters who might want to pursue careers in the entertainment sector.
Here's a few photos from Lockstock 2021 (and a bit)
